Ooo...never heard of the name before, lovely photo :) I once spotted a dragonfly in my backyard...I ran back inside to get the camera but I couldn't get the images to be focused for nothing, wind was blowing too hard lol.

Well, it's what the smaller "dragonflies" are called. :)

Sounds familiar. It's windy here most of the time and I get a ton of blurred photos but every now and then I'm lucky!

The photo is truly magnificent. I absolutely adore the detail which is perfect. Colors are amazing as well. But I really feel that the rest of the wing is missing here. Lack of it is for me really disturbing.

Thanks a lot!
I see your point about the cut off wing (and body) and how it might be disturbing. I did it because I wanted to get closer, capture more detail on the face, and that wouldn't have been possible with the whole body in the frame. I have some other shots of the same damselfly, some with the wing not cut off. Maybe I'll submit one of those as well.

delightful... damselflies never seem to like me, but a new spring is almost here... perhaps i can talk one into staying still for a while.

Good luck with them!
We've got loads of them here, so if one doesn't want to cooperate there's many others to try. They are a bit hard to spot in the grass though and often I only see them when they are already taking off again. Still, much easier "prey" than the bigger dragonflies.
I got this one early in the morning - it was sitting on a twig in the sun and let me take a lot of pictures.

Schönes Makro, so eine Libelle hat sicher einen guten Rundumblick :D

Well a rough guess would be about 4 cm body length, but very thin!
