Interactions at the Zoo 1 by marble911 Interactions at the Zoo 1 by marble911
I tend to dislike other visitors at the zoo (hey, they always get in the way :D) so I usually go when there's as few of them as possible but during the summer there's always masses of them. Might as well use them.

Shot through two layers of smudged glass (one between me and the cheetahs, one between the cheetahs and the people on the other side of the enclosure) and it shows. ;)

Thanks a lot!
I got a couple of nice expressions that day.
The great thing is that most people think you only take pictures of the cheetahs, and some don't even notice you at all.

They do get a bit of running. They have some sort of machine that simulates fast-moving prey.
But most of the time they seem quite content just lying around.

The boy looks so amazed while the cheeta seems, well despising the whole world :? That ray of sun on her is just great :)

Oh, I have photos were the cheetah looked even more despising, or at least bored to death by all the silly visitors knocking on the glass.... :D
Well seen!
Thanks a lot for the comment and fav, Patricia.

i wondered how you were going to make a zoo original...i always find wonderful photos and opportunities there but feel they are largely unoriginal since everyone else could easily plan to take the same ones. i'm impressed. haha...pics of all the animals at the zoo...;-)

I have to admit it doesn't particularly worry me if my shots (zoo or otherwise) are particularly original or not. Being the zoology freak that I am, I love watching the animals and also capturing them, primarily for my own enjoyment. If someone else has taken the same shot before that's fine with me.
But yeah, taking pics of the visitors as well does add a nice element to it, with all the different facial expressions you can get. And I think I should use my wider lens more often to take photos of the zoo itself, the enclosures etc. rather than just animal portraits. Might be interesting in 10, 20, 30 years to look back at how this has changed.

lol...not really a (n advanced) critique here, but...

while you may not worry much about it, the quality and creativity of your pics at least seems particularly original to me! it's always cool to see what new aspect of an animal or scene you've highlighted. while it's clear that you love animals, it's also clear you know your camera and that you're dripping with artistic talent. :-)

Kid: Gosh mom, those are neat kitties!
Mom (Thinking): I wonder if I can manage to throw this brat over the top of, and into, the cage and still get away before anyone notices?

She would've had a hard time with the glass up to the roof :D But the polar bears' enclosure would've been perfect.
